OLD TOWN HOLIDAY FESTIVAL & GINGERBREAD HOUSE COMPETITION

Join your neighbors in celebrating the start of the holiday season at the Old Town Holiday Festival! On Friday, Dec. 1, Old Town Peoria will once again transform into a mini North Pole, complete with dazzling decorations, festive entertainment, sweet treats and 20 tons of shimmering, sparkling snow.

For over 30 years, the Old Town Holiday Festival has been getting Peoria residents in the holly, jolly spirit. In addition to the activities listed above, guests can shop the crafters market, try their hand at cookie-decorating or exercise their pipes in the choral contest. If you’re planning on attending with the little ones, you’ll definitely want to pop in kids’ zone for games, crafts and carnival rides. Ol’ Saint Nick will also be stopping by, so be sure to bring your wish list with you!

As usual, the festival is completely free to attend, although some activities will require a small fee. Parking will be available at the Community Center and at the City Hall Parking Garages. For more information, visit the City of Peoria’s website.

Also returning for its 27th year is the popular Gingerbread House Competition! The contest is broken into two categories-Mini Houses and Large Houses-and four divisions: Adaptive, Advanced, Groups (11 and under and 12 and older) and Individuals (11 and under and 12 and older). Entries will be accepted at the Community Center from Nov. 27-29, so be sure to mark your calendars.
