Most automotive manufacturers have been focusing heavily on fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness in recent years. As a result, today’s vehicles get far better miles per gallon and produce far less emissions than ever before. Part of this is driven by customer demand, and the huge increase in the sales of hybrids and electric vehicles suggests that this trend is likely to continue. In anticipation of this growing customer demand for hybrids and electric vehicles, INFINITI recently announced that it would begin transitioning over to electric vehicles in 2021.
Coming Soon: An Electric INFINITI Lineup

When INFINITI made its announcement, many people made the mistake of thinking that the manufacturer meant it would only produce electric vehicles from 2021 onwards. However, this is not at all what the company meant. Instead, the announcement merely stated that from 2021 onwards, all new INFINITI models will include an electric drivetrain, whereas some existing models may still only be available with a gasoline engine.

Nonetheless, this announcement is still likely to come as good news for INFINITI enthusiasts looking for a vehicle with improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. From 2021, you will be able to choose from a range of new INFINITI models with an electric drivetrain. This could be a standard gasoline-electric hybrid or a more efficient plug-in hybrid. As well, customers will also have a chance to get their hands on INFINITI’s first all-electric vehicle, which is also set to be released in 2021.

In truth, the automotive world seems to be rapidly moving away from gasoline-only vehicles in a hurry, and this trend should only increase as electric car and battery technology continues to improve. In this sense, INFINITI is really only staying one step ahead of the trend and anticipating the world of the not-so-distant future when hybrids and electric cars are the norm. In fact, the company already estimates that electric vehicles will make up more than 50 percent of its total sales by 2025.

The only real bad news to take out of all of this is that it will still be a few years before drivers can begin to enjoy the benefits of INFINITI’s new electric lineup. Nonetheless, this does not mean that you need to wait to get behind the wheel of a fuel efficiency electric INFINITI, as the manufacturer already offers several outstanding hybrid models, such as the 2018 Q50, Q70 or QX60.
