SPRING 2022 AUTO MAINTENANCE TIPS

The spring season is a common time to travel on the road as the weather clears up. It’s important to perform maintenance on your vehicle to remove any damage that has occurred and avoid issues that can occur with the engine. Here are a few spring auto maintenance tips to start following in 2022.

Repair Dings and Dents
A lot of wear and tear can occur to the exterior of your vehicle while driving around in the winter due to loose rocks and debris on the road. Inspect the outside of the car to look for areas that need to be repaired and have a touch-up paint pen on hand. If major dents are present due to fender benders, you can drop the vehicle off at an auto shop that can perform paintless dent repair. Failing to repair the damage can affect the value of your car.

Rotate the Tires
Rotating the tires on your car is necessary to ensure the tread wears down easily on all four tires. If your car currently has winter tires, they can be replaced with standard tires. This task can be performed by a mechanic at the same time the oil is changed to ensure the parts are all lubricated. It’s also necessary to top off all of the fluids under the hood, which includes the coolant and brake fluid. 

Add More Items to Your Emergency Kit
The same items you store in your emergency kit during the winter season may not be needed if your car breaks down in the spring. Update the kit by removing any snow boots, blankets, or tire chains. You can also add more snacks and bottles of water if they’ve recently been used. Test out the flashlights and check the jumper cables for frayed wires.

Clean the Interior
Clean the interior of the cabin by vacuuming all of the seats and hosing off the floor mats. Wipe down the interior door panels and dashboard to remove dirt and dust. Cleaning the interior windows will also offer more visibility to the outside. This is also a great time to wax the body to restore the look of your vehicle and allow it to shine.
