Key

If you’re questioning how to start your INFINITI car with a dead INFINITI key fob, we’ll answer your question inside this article. As handy as it is to have an intelligent key fob for your INFINITI vehicle, it can become a real headache when it doesn’t work. Fortunately, there are ways to start your INFINITI even if the battery in your intelligent key has died.

The method of starting your INFINITI with a dead intelligent key fob will depend on the vehicle you have. If you try to start some models with a dead key fob, a light will illuminate at the key port. Insert your key with the buttons facing upward if you have a horizontal port or with the buttons facing the driver side door if you have a vertical port. Once the key is inserted, your vehicle can be started as normal by depressing the brake and pressing the Start/Stop ignition button. Note that this won’t recharge your key’s battery.

If your vehicle doesn’t have a key port, touch the ignition switch with your key. You should hear a chime sound. If you press the Start/Stop ignition button while depressing the brake within ten seconds of hearing this chime, you should be able to start your INFINITI vehicle.

If you’re driving the INFINITI QX30 and you have the “floating” Start/Stop ignition button, you should be able to start your car the old fashioned way if you pull the button away and expose the ignition switch. If that doesn’t work, step on the brake hard while trying to start your engine again to get rid of any residual pressure in the brake system.

If you’ve tried these methods with a dead intelligent key and your INFINITI still won’t start, there may be other issues that need to be addressed. Contact INFINITI of Peoria today to schedule an appointment for your INFINITI vehicle.
