HOLD ON TO YOUR LEDERHOSEN: OLD WORLD OKTOBERFEST RETURNS SEPT. 22-23

It’s that time of year again! Old World Oktoberfest is coming back to Peoria for another round of fun, offering local residents of all ages a little taste of Bavaria.

On Sept. 22-23, from 5-10 p.m., the Peoria Centennial Plaza will transform into a mini Wiesn* filled with German food, culture and, of course, bier! Whether you’re craving a bratwurst topped with sauerkraut or a giant salty pretzel, there are plenty of delicious dishes to indulge in here. Plus, there will be plenty of cold beverages to wash your dinner down with, including a limited edition Warsteiner Braumeister brew. Noch ein bier, bitte!

There’s never a dull moment at Old World Oktoberfest, especially with all of the fun rides, games and competitions going on throughout the weekend. From a beer stein holding contest and polka dance contest to the keg tapping opening ceremony, attendees will have plenty to do, see and participate in here! There will also be a best dressed recognition, so be sure to don your German garb!

Admission to Old World Oktoberfest is $5 for adults 21 and up, with those who are 20 and under getting in for free. Parking at the plaza is also free. For more information, you can check out the event’s website or call (480) 947-7490.

We hope you join your neighbors at this year’s Oktoberfest celebration. Prost!

*Wiesn is short for Theresienwiese, the large field where the original Oktoberfest takes place every year in Munich, Germany
