INFINITI EARNS SPOT ON 2017 WARDS’ 10 BEST ENGINES LIST

Wards’ annual list of the 10 Best Engines is one of the most anticipated in the automotive industry, and securing a spot on this prestigious list is not an easy feat. However, the new advanced VR-series 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 was able to impress the judges with its brilliant engineering and mind-blowing performance.

The 3.0t V6, featured on Q50 models and the Q60 Red Sport 400, is no stranger to the spotlight-both critics and sports sedan aficionados have raved about the powertrain since it hit the market last model year. Selected from a group of forty engines after two months of testing, the 3.0t V6’s nomination only solidifies it as a top choice for Peoria drivers looking for state-of-the-art performance and everyday practicality.

“The Q50’s twin-turbo V6 puts INFINITI neck-and-neck with its German competitors,” said Dave Zoia, WardsAuto editorial director. “Silky smooth, quiet when you want it to be and capable of delivering some pretty respectable fuel economy numbers. According to INFINITI, the 3.0t V6 is one of the most advanced and fuel-efficient engines of its kind. It’s available in two configurations, the standard being rated at 300 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque. Red Sport 400 models feature a special variant, which boosts output to a whopping 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. This is accomplished through an extra intercooler pump and an optical turbo speed sensor.

Both versions of the powertrain also feature innovative design elements, including lightweight aluminum material, mirror-bore coating and direct-injection technology, all working in conjunction to reduce weight and friction while maximizing efficiency.
