ABOUT ARIZONA SEARCH TRACK & RESCUE IN PEORIA

AZ STAR is part of a broader network of national Search and Rescue teams that use humans and their dogs to help local law enforcement agencies respond to missing individuals’ reports. AZ STAR explicitly helps law enforcement agencies look for missing individuals in urban areas along with places that are more difficult to search, including desert locations and wilderness areas.

About AZ STAR

AZ STAR was formed with the mission to improve public safety by using the specially trained trail and trained air scent teams to help locate victims of crime, drowning victims, and people with certain medical conditions, such as Alzheimer’s. The teams are also trained to search for evidence in instances that involve crimes or criminal investigations. They are also trained in locating cadavers.

Special Programs

Along with its general search and rescue missions, AZ STAR uses human and canine SAR teams in particular situations, such as groups specifically designed to conduct search and rescue operations in water settings. AZ STAR also partners with a local sister organization called “FindMe” that uses specially trained and carefully selected SAR teams with training in aerial search and rescue operations, photography, linguistics, and many other specialized areas.

AZ STAR offers educational programs for adults and children in Arizona who want to learn basic survival skills for improved safety in the wilderness and outdoor settings.

Along with general wilderness safety training, AZ STAR offers specialized courses in specific areas, such as wilderness search techniques, water search techniques, desert search techniques, tracking, crime scene preservation, and advanced search and rescue. Courses are also available in related medical education, including first aid and CPR courses. Since public outreach and communications are a vital part of AZ STAR’s mission, special training is also offered for individuals interested in communicating AZ STAR’s mission to the public and coordinating search and rescue operations with local law enforcement agencies.

Events

Annually, AZ STAR offers special events to bring the organization members together and introduce potential program volunteers to training opportunities available. Events are held periodically throughout the year.
